Pressure is mounting on Newcastle United manager Matthias Jaissle, with supporters increasingly asking whether he could be sacked if results fail to improve.

Newcastle have lost four of their last five matches, including two disappointing home defeats against Everton, leaving the club 13th in the Premier League.

Alan Shearer warns Jaissle could lose his job

Newcastle legend Alan Shearer has warned that Jaissle could face dismissal during the forthcoming international break if Newcastle fail to get a result at Fulham.

Speaking to Betfair, Shearer criticised Newcastle's performances against Everton, questioning the tactics, lack of chances and recent recruitment.

He described the Fulham fixture as a massive game and warned that the international break can be particularly difficult for managers under pressure.

Newcastle supporters questioning Jaissle

The frustration is also evident among supporters.

A Newcastle fan named Steve, speaking on talkSPORT Breakfast, claimed Jaissle was "out of his depth" and called for him to be replaced by former Tottenham manager Thomas Frank.

However, not every supporter believes changing managers again would solve Newcastle's problems.

Will Newcastle sack Jaissle?

Despite the speculation, Jaissle revealed this week that he had received reassurance from the Newcastle hierarchy.

Reports also suggest the club's leadership remains supportive of the German manager.

Saturday's result at Fulham could nevertheless be significant.

Another defeat would increase the pressure considerably, particularly with the international break providing an opportunity for the club to assess its position.

For now, Jaissle remains in charge, but the questions surrounding his future are unlikely to disappear without improved performances and results.

With his job having been under the spotlight since a run of four defeats in seven games we looked at who could replace Jaissle if he is sacked after concerns were expressed by fans that he is now blaming the players for not following his instructions in his press conference after the 3-1 EFL Cup defeat by Everton
