Bruno: Rumour Or Fact?

.... Bruno will be 29 in November and Arsenal are rumoured to be interested. How is he thinking about the last few years of his career, like this?
He's done his job at Newcastle is a legend and gone as far as he can go. He came to a team threatened with relegation and captained us to the CL twice and our first domestic trophy since Donald Trump was a bairn.
However, the LC is hardly a trophy to trumpet in retirement to the grandkids, PL titles, CL trophies and FA Cups are way ahead in the bragging stakes.
He now realises that his chances of the first two medals especially are slim, but going to Arsenal multiplies not only his chances but his wages too.
My view now?
It hasn't changed. By that I mean I can understand if that is the way Bruno is thinking.
Let's be frank; the club has gone backwards in dramatic fashion in the last 12 months.
Last summers window was supposed to be one that took us to the 'next level' when - after Isak left and our prime targets turned us down - it sent us to a level below, not above.
The new signings, Thiaw apart, were nowhere near that next level standard and the likes of Gordon, Tonali and Bruno would have seen their hopes of challenging for the big honours with Newcastle disappear into the ether.
Careers are short, and so is loyalty when glory and bigger wages are available elsewhere.
If Bruno goes it IS revolution... not evolution
CEO Hopkinson made it plain to fans that in order to develop the squad elite players would have to be sold, so the sale of Gordon wasn't unexpected.
However, when rumours of Spurs interest in Tonali surfaced that rumour was met with ridicule by many fans only for Sandro to depart for £100M.
As we've discussed on the blog over the past few weeks - that has left the club without four key players from the cup winning and CL qualifying 24/25 season; Isak, Gordon, Tonali and Trippier with only Trippier leaving because he was past his prime.
That exodus already meant that gradual evolution of the squad was off the menu - Bruno leaving would make it a full scale revolution.
Ask Bruno now - will you sign a new contract?
Bruno has two years left on his contract and in any event that is too short for the player and the club.
If he wants to stay he needs an extension on the best wages we can pay; for the club his value will plummet if he doesn't sign and has just one year left after this season.
So... it's time to get real, shove any anger at his agents meddling aside, take emotion of losing him out of the equation... and offer him the best contract we can, now.
Many fans believe that Bruno's heart is in the club and that wages aren't his driving motivation - the club needs to test that belief immediately. Brazil are out of the WC so there is no 'distraction' excuse that Bruno or his agent can give for a delay.
Get that contract on the table now... if Bruno doesn't sign in the next 7/10 days...
Sell him for the best price we can get and move on.

These players who want to leave are the players who downed tools to make sure we did not get us Europe, goes for bruno too who piss off for around 9 weeks

I was sad to see Gordon go but it wasn’t the end of the world!
I was gutted when Tonali went I saw him as our midfield destroyer!
How would I feel if Bruno left the camp?
Very unhappy but I’m a Newcastle United fan and have been since 1956 over the years I’ve seen many players come & go but we move on and that’s what we have to do should Bruno not be with us for season 27/27.
Will it be painful, losing Bruno? Yes it will…… but as always we have to get behind those players in the Black & White representing NUFC and give them our full backing.

I see that Newcastle United Women are signing players.
International players and on the face of it good players.
I think that is important. The Women's team I think was allowed to drift a bit.
Get them into the Super League. It should be a big part of the project.
Why ? Increasing the profile of the club.
Sponsorships, revenue etc etc.
I think all aspects of the club were allowed to drift May/June 2025.
Hopefully this is a sign that the project is back on and being driven in the right direction.
Having personal views is fine but without the full facts it is subjective at best.
It is better to wait and see what the club comes out with regarding Bruno.
