Eddie Howe Leaves The Club

The dramatic news that Eddie Howe has left the club after five years has just been announced.


Eddie has told the club he wants a break from football and the parting of ways is amicable.


Matthias Jaissle of Al Ahli is reportedly poised to replace him.


From The Athletic:


Jaissle, 38, is a two-time Asian Champions League winner with Al Ahli – who, like Newcastle, are majority owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF).


The German, who spent his entire playing career with Hoffenheim, coached Red Bull Salzburg for two seasons, cementing his reputation by winning back to back Austrian Bundesliga titles and the Austrian Cup.


My opinion: If the above is true, and apparently talks are at an advanced stage, it looks as if Eddie had informed the club he wanted to leave well before now giving them time to approach a new manager before he left.


I'll have my full take on Eddie leaving in an article later today when the dust has settled.


But...


Let's remeber he has been one of our greatest ever managers taking us from relegation candidates in his first season to the Champions League in his second and brought the first domestic cup back to Newcastle in 70 years.


He was a brilliant ambassador for the club and his lasting legacy should be his fantastic first four seasons at the club... not his last one where Isak's antics pulled the rug out from underneath him and unsettled our other top players.


I also suspect that Bruno wanting to leave was the last straw.

So, some of you folks got your wish!


Let's see, if it was this manager's fault.


I of course want us to do well no matter who's the coach.


Anyway, to achieve the best club in the world by 2030 status we've been promised by PIF a major shake up was needed.


Thank god we've got us a top manager. What a CV! *

I'm not too surprised, at his sacking, I think he was 'persuaded' to resign and he knew it was coming.. His body language in the games t owards the end of the season and in these "Friendlys" has been very depressive, Tindall as well. He looked like a man who knew he was failing and that his tenure was ending.

What was surprising that the owners let it drag on until now. No credit whatsover to them for the handling of the situation.

He needs a break from the game but he'll get another project and probably bring another conference team up to the EPL which to be fair is his ceiling.

He probably has a good golden farewell hanshake…

A kna right, if Howe hit is ceiling doing what he did for us considering all the issues with PSR, then this ceiling must be in the Sistine Chapel or something

Somewhat disappointed in Eddie leaving after his time at the Toon.

I was never excited when he came but he proved me wrong.

His record with us up till last season was great.

Stubborn with his team selections and his loyalty to certain players were not great from Eddie.
