Eddie Howe's Man City Press Conference

Newcastle play Manchester City at 8pm, Saturday 7th March, in the 5th round of the FA Cup. Eddie Howe spoke to the media this morning prior to the game.

Eddie Speaks: Preparing Manchester City

Team News

Tino Livramento is "close" but hasn't trained and Lewis Miley is still "a couple of games away". Nick Woltemade will be fit to play after a bout of sickness.

Other Points

Eddie was asked about Ramsdale's selection and Osula being preferred as a sub over Wissa against Manchester United.

In reply to how Nick Pope had reacted to being left out for a PL game - other than a cup rotation - Eddie replied that Pope is a team player and that is his first consideration. He will be working with the coaches to regain his best form.

On Osula instead of Wissa; Eddie said that Will has put in a huge effort in training since coming back from injury and that he simply felt that he was the player to bring on with Wissa still seeking full fitness after his disrupted pre-season and time out.

It was mentioned that Tino, Tonali and Bruno have all been linked with City and Eddie was asked how he felt about Pep Guardiola talking to players on the pitch after a game.

Eddie's view was that it was just part of Pep's way and that he didn't have an issue and nor did he ask players what was discussed. IMO, take that with a pinch of salt!

On his approach to tomorrow's game - Eddie mentioned that he had been criticised previously for fielding strong teams in cup competitions but stressed that is because he wants to win every game.

That was about it from this morning's presser.

I honestly would not be playing Big Nick in midfield anymore, just rotate him with Gordon and Wissa up top in some form for the rest of the season.

@Lochinvar Just seen that. I think it's a maximum of 15% in the Premium areas. We're in the 1892 club and it is going up about 8% - still bad enough though!
