Being a Geordie but having lived away most of my life you'd have thought I could easily escape the hubbub of Tyneside football frenzy, but you'd be wrong.

Dancing the Geordie Jig

My son made sure all his mates got to see me in full fervour couple of seasons ago jigging around at home watching the PSG game at SJP on SKY chanting to no one in particular, "We want 6, we want 6" videoing and sharing it with them.

I bloody loved it.

But being remote maybe does give me a better chance to offer some constructive advice, who knows!

My takeaways from this season;

1) Not being in the CL next season is NOT a poisoned chalice.

Remember, and never forget, both Mbemo and Cunha, 2 of Eddies top targets, chose a diabolically abysmal Manure last season when we had CL secured.

Two other strikers went to Chelsea and have had pretty poor seasons, one barely getting a kick, and the other with an awful attitude problem so a fag paper away from another Chelsea red card at any minute.

We should stick all this into our talent hunting schpele in CAPITALS to counter all the bull we inevitably get thrown back in our face during transfer negotiations.

2) Try our best to keep a lid on all the frustration we are all bound to feel as the poor untouched (rest of the country) try to wind us up about whose leaving us for which big 6 club from now until the summer transfer window closes.

They confuse our intense passion for stupidity and it only gees them up.

Don't give them the time of day! We are not stupid as we love and expect a style and class of football a la Keegan as shown at home to Man U and Liverpool where we mesmerised them with 10 men, Chelsea and Quaraba away etc etc.

We know where its at with football so just blank all the dog poo comments thrown at us and do not react back to them.

3) Looking at the slick passing and silky movements into space making our defence looking stiff and awkward against Sunderland last week just shows what our new Sporting Director needs to discover, negotiate, and bring in, as he did last year at Forest,

His Brazilian and Serbian centre halves cost just £20 - 30M. I

f he can find 6 players averaging £25M each in the 18 to 23 age range including GK, CB, WB, midfield and striker for Eddie to do a Hall on wed be well on our way NOT to have to keep sending the same 11 out week after week after week.

Crikey if we can see how shagged out they looked so often how do you think the likes of BDB feel, and maybe what's speeling whantawayitis amongst Eddies best.

4) From what I see Anthony Gordon is a real gem and real tryer,

Barnes has a great eye for scoring goals, Elanga is starting to come good.

Woltemade has the makings of an amazing striker (a one off Wynn the leap Pop Robson hybrid) etc so yes let half a dozen older players go but probably not them, or Schar, and IF we lose a prime star then let if be just one and get an Isaac level amount for him

This was actually a comment that I thought was such a good read that I decided to add it to the posts.

The Geordie Jig during the PSG game reminded me of watching a Toon game in Dublin's Temple Bar - the pub was packed and there were a load of Japanese tourists in front of the TV.

When we scored I jumped out of my seat hollering and the tourists - totally unaware of the match - started diving for cover! It took some explaining until they calmed down.

Have you got an opinion or rant about NUFC you want to share withthe blog in a post?

Send it to nufcblogcom@gmail.com and it will be published during the international break.

"Since taking over in October 2021, Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) has overseen a total gross spend of over €500m (£400m+ ) on player transfers at Newcastle United, with total owner investments, including working capital and operational costs, surpassing £700m by late 2025."

It's not unreasonable to choose to believe that PIF and Hopkinson are most very likely totally legit in their ambitions.

My slight concern would be that because of the financial regulations PIF might think a new stadium and new training facilty etc might not be financially a great investment. It certainly won't guarantee trophies, although we won't be winning many without them. It's a nagging worry, but not a major one, more like just a bit…

Been absolutely stowed off at work, whole container full of light bulbs showed up.

Ok, blog meet for Brighton, not a single reply or response last time I mentioned it. Anyhoo, the ballot opened today for anyone interested, if nobody at all responds then I'll take it that nobody is interested and I'll make other plans that day, I'll be going to tte game anyway so I'll gauge interest from any posts today.

I've no doubt I'll be judging Wilson on this coming window too but, good window or not, I think theres more to it than that. As has been said many times on here, we need to see progress in the academy, which is going on anyway, and some more astute cheaper signings to develop, eg Minteh. Again I'm sure this will be being worked on but we need to see some results in the future.

Who knows, Wilson might cover some of this in this one window with a variety of types of signing. We live in hope. 🙂

As I've just remarked over the road, Eddie and his team should be judged on the body of work. Wilson on the other hand needs to deliver this Summer.
