28 year old Harvey Barnes who had two years left on his current contact has penned a new long term deal with the club.

It's a reward for his goalscoring ability and it means he could end his PL career at the club.

Any talk of Villa interest can now be put to bed and he is set to challenge young Toure for the left wing spot this season.

Newcastle 1 Leverkusen 2: Very Few Positives

Another pre-season defeat but unlike the loss to Everton this was a game where there weren't many, if any, positives to take. Leverkusen scored within a minute and yet again - was it a great goal or

Barnes is without doubt the best finisher at the club.

Lochinvar - I read today that your pseudonym is lifted from a book by Sir Walter Scott. Please elaborate.

It's a good tale.

Possibly the inspiration for the Dustin Hoffman film The Graduate and Paul Simon song Mrs. Robinson

I'm from the west (Carlisle) before being kidnapped and being smuggled into Newcastle.

My steed (see my avatar) is the white horse I rescued Amanda Staveley on to bring her to SJP.

Bit of a lad was our Lochinvar, also the wife's nickname for me and the name of a Cal Mac ferry !

Good luck with this.

So Trafford is going to commute along the M62 then. Pig of a road, Anyway, safe driving.

Just hope that Wilson and co. haven't still been pissing in the wind on this.

Closes one door for Pope so Ipswich it is then.

Who we sign is anyone's guess unless we've poached Jordan Pickford !

Leeds United are set to agree a £40m deal to sign 23-year-old England goalkeeper James Trafford from Manchester City. (Athletic)

Also delighted Barnes is staying Very much underrated as a player. Re Munsters eddie howe interpetation... i hope Eddie proves us all wrong about his limitations ,He s the first manager in my lifetime to win us areal FKin cup ,but his creidit for that is running low at the moment. Europe is a must next year or he wont be....

Ealier on when they were highlighting the new home kit I thought it really strange that bruno wasnt looking up and smiling whilst ,donning the new kit, Then not long after this shite with arseanl appeared. I dont view this as an "rat" situation ,but would be mesmerised if he still with us come the first game of the season, too much bullshit behind the scenes .Bruno is playing it very close to his chest, which gives this legs, he s right his legacy is at stake. I think he d rather win with us a team captain ,rather than be a bit player (better paid for sure) at ARSE nil . I hope agianst hope He follows his Heart…
