One Era Ends. A New One Begins

Yesterday's dramatic news is now old news.

All rides run out of fuel. And Eddie Howe's ride at SJP lasted longer than most.

He took the club as far as he could and when the engine started to splutter and punctures appeared on all four wheels - he stepped out and walked away.

Eddie's ride is over.

He gave us some great moments on that ride, especially that unforgettable day at Wembley.. Like any ride there were also bumps along the way.

But in the history of Newcastle United the bumps will be forgotten; the story will be told of how Eddie rescued us from relegation, qualified twice for the CL, took us further in that competition than ever before, and ended 70 years of heartache by winning the LC,.

That will be Eddie Howe's everlasting legacy.

And now... Matthias Jaissle is set to take the wheel.

Young players. Young manager

To say there has been a revolution in the last few weeks at SJP is an understatement.

Lenin would have been proud of this one.

Kings and Princes have exited, Emperor Bruno is about to leave, lesser royalty like Pope and Willock could join them, and Princeling Lewis Hall is on Man U's radar.

The Palace is being emptied and the young bloods are taking over.

The revolution is in full swing.

And taking over the new era is 38 year old Matthias Jaissle brought in to govern the new era. He likes to blood young players. Well, there is plenty now to spill at NUFC.

The hope is that he can steer Newcastle United out of the current chaos, rally the troops and, probably with the addition of some experienced heads, steer Newcastle United over the bumps and back on the road to success.

It's a big task for someone who is still a learner driver.

So, Matthias now takes on his biggest test. The Premier League.

What next?

Probably the news that Bruno is signing for Arsenal to end that saga.

Jo apparently wants to go to Saudi. To play, not on holiday.

The club telling Man U where to go on Lewis Hall would be welcomed.

GK Lucas Hornicek could be our next signing which could see Pope leaving.

And, I now expect more new signings to quickly follow.

There is still money in the transfer kitty and another £70M-£80M will drop in when Bruno exits and c£25M if Jo goes.

That could see three or four more new signings and, who knows, there might be a big name that isn't on the radar and will surprise us all.

Despite the tumultuous changes of the last few weeks...

One thing remains a constant at Newcastle United...

The next twist and swerve on the ride is just around the corner .

So, hang on tight. The next ride starts on 23rd August, SJP, at 4.30pm.
