One Out, One In Strategy. PSR & The Early Transfer Rumours

The recruitment blueprint under Eddie Howe and Ross Wilson: is now believed to be "One Out, One In." with the emphasis on early departures and signings.

Money to spend

The club kept their powder dry in January and with a net spend last summer of c£100M after Isak's sale, topped up with £70M from the Gordon transfer. Newcastle actually now possess healthy financial headroom.

And with at least one, and possibly two or more, big sales to follow from the likes of Tino, Tonali, Hall and Willock there could be anywhere between £100M-£200M to add to the spending pot.

With Eddie wanting no repeat of last summers late deals the pressure is on Ross Wilson to continue the early business the club did with Anthony Gordon.

The early transfer rumours

One out, one in, means the early runners in the rumour race are potential Gordon replacements; Real Betis winger Abde Ezzalzoul and AIK Stockholm’s 18-year-old wonderkid, Zadok Yohanna with a bid of £21M already reported as being on the table.

I've been impressed with both on Youtube (mind, Shola Ameobi looks a world beater in highlights) and Yohanna especially looks to have amazing dribbling skills and surprising strength in holding off defenders for an 18 year old.

Beighton and Chelsea are reportedly interested in both players and as long as City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Man U stay out of the picture if we are interested then we should be in with a decent shout of their signatures.

With Krafth and Trippier departed and Tino's exit expected we are reportedly interested in Atlanta's sought after right back Marco Palestra.

The player recently admitted he feels ready for a "big club", but rumor has it he prefers a team with Champions League football—something Newcastle cannot offer next season.

 However, the Toon are reportedly the most willing to match Atalanta's high asking price upfront using the Gordon cash.

Woltemade & Wissa

Staying or going is the debate for these two players.

Woltemade has made a confident statement on his first season and there is no hint that he feels being dropped back into midfield has caused to him to have second thoughts on his decision to wear the black and white shirt.

Barring a very good World Cup and an offer approaching what we paid for him I don't see Woltemade moving on this summer.

Wissa is more likely to be the one to go if Eddie decides that he needs more firepower to add to Big Nick and Will Osula, the latter who I don't now expect to be sold unless an offer in the region of £50M is made.

The problem with Wissa is we'd probably struggle to get £25M+ for him which means a big hit on his £55M fee. Add in his wages and finding clubs who would be interested even if the club want to sell him will be the problem.

World Cup Fee Factor

There are always players in the World Cup who were previously off the radar who perform well, or players who go from 'possible' to 'must have' signings.

That hype can bring in a flurry of interested clubs and fees rocket.

It's a factor which adds another twist to a hugely important transfer window especially if we have identified possible targets playing for their countries.

The last thing we want is being involved in bidding wars and selling clubs hanging on to the last minute of the window to squeeze out the maximum price.

Last season the mistake was targeting players who turned us down for the Big 6, the mistake this season could be targeting players performing in the World Cup.

Ross Wilson has a big job on his hands and a lot to prove.

Let's hope he is up to it.
