Our 30 Game Prem Stats

14 Wins - 12 Defeats - 4 Draws
That is our Prem form since 1st January this year.
After an iffy start to last season we went on that great run up to the end of the year but our form in the second half of the season was inconsistent.
However the EFL Cup run and win and the euphoria that followed masked that inconsistent league form.
The signs were already there, and losing 12 games in a season and still qualifying for the CL from 5th due to the extra place carried a large dose of good fortune that was easy to ignore.
We can mention injuries to Wissa, losing Isak, bedding in new players etc., but the fact is our inconsistent league form, and especially away from home, predates all of that.
In short; our form now for 30 games is way off what it takes to qualify for the CL or any one of the European competitions. It translates to a 9th place finish on 58pts going on last season.
I, and many other fans, are very reluctant to point fingers at Eddie Howe after the brilliant job he has done in taking us from relegation candidates to the CL and our first domestic cup win in 70 years.
His job is not under threat now, of that I am sure.
But I am sure that he will be feeling the pressure, that he is aware of our last 30 game Prem stats - and that PIF will be aware of those stats too,
2pts off a relegation spot in the ruthless world of Prem football is not acceptable.
Our Prem form has to improve. And fast.

Hall, Tino and Miley in for City game. Need our most proficient technical players on the pitch, so no big Joe for me. Thankfully Burn can’t play so he’ll rest up. May go 3 at the back, but if so our wing backs will need to be brave and push up the pitch, otherwise we risk sitting in a low block all match.
Bingo 😳 i can't even bring myself to think about the toon atm.
Magscar a nice look back on the 70s & 80s. The home internationals were at times blood and thunder affairs ,if there had been stricter referees it would have ended up as a 5 aside! The other extreme now is the histrionics, play acting (cheating) to get players booked /sent off or to “win” a penalty doesn’t sit well and is not an easy watch for me to be honest.
Just read the home internationals ended during the 1983-84 season due to “falling attendance and increased hooliganism” etc. haven’t heard that for a while. Positive side is the game is more spectator friendly I suppose.

Not a bad bingo shout especially as so far ahead - plenty time to mull away empty hours redrafting my team almost hourly though 😀
Be interesting to see if come the day BDB takes Botman's spot - not saying he's a favourite but more Botmans been off it?
Catch up later.
It's the wife's birthday soon so I'm off out to look at the latest anti-midge creams. (see earlier);
