NEWSFEED: Newcastle Demand at Least £70m as Manchester United Renew Lewis Hall Interest
Here we go again...
Manchester United have reportedly been told they would need to pay more than £70 million to sign Newcastle United defender Lewis Hall, despite the England international recently committing his future to St James' Park.
According to Football Insider, United remain keen on the 22-year-old left-back and could renew their pursuit next summer.
Hall was a leading target for the Old Trafford club during the summer transfer window, but Newcastle refused to entertain a departure.
Since then, the defender has signed a new contract keeping him at Newcastle until 2031, strengthening the Magpies' position considerably.
Transfer journalist Pete O'Rourke reports that Hall remains high on Manchester United's list of defensive targets, with his value continuing to rise following his performances for club and country.
The renewed interest comes amid reports linking former Newcastle manager Eddie Howe with the Manchester United job.
Howe knows Hall well from their time together at St James' Park, although there has been no confirmation that the defender would be part of any recruitment plans under a new manager.
Newcastle are reportedly determined to keep Hall and would rule out a January departure.
Any potential move is therefore more likely to be revisited next summer, with United facing a substantial financial commitment if they decide to pursue their interest.
The 'reported fee of at least £70M' has no doubt not come from Newcastle but from the fertile mind of the journalist writing a story for clickbait.
Earlier this month the 'reported figure' was £85M!
