NEWSFEED: Newcastle Expand African Scouting Network as Ross Wilson Plans New Appointment
Newcastle United are looking to strengthen their international recruitment network by appointing a new scouting analyst specialising in African football.
Sporting director Ross Wilson is overseeing the expansion as the Magpies look to identify promising players across the African continent.
The new role will focus on assessing potential signings from a range of leagues and levels, with much of the scouting carried out through video analysis.
The successful candidate will help identify players suited to Newcastle's recruitment strategy, playing style and future squad requirements.
Applications are open until Monday, 2 November, through Newcastle United's official website.
The move follows the club's expansion into South American scouting.
Last December, Newcastle appointed Thomas Federspiel to cover Brazil, Colombia and Ecuador. The Magpies subsequently agreed a deal for highly rated Ecuadorian teenager Johan Martinez, who is due to join the club when he turns 18 in 2027.
Newcastle have also sought scouting coverage in Argentina and Uruguay as Wilson develops a wider international recruitment operation.
The club already has strong connections with African football through players including former favourites Cheick Tioté, Demba Ba and Papiss Cissé.
Current squad members Yoane Wissa and Bazoumana Touré also represent African nations.
The latest recruitment move suggests Newcastle are looking beyond Europe's established transfer markets to identify emerging talent earlier.
No appointment has yet been announced, but the new role provides another indication of how Wilson intends to reshape Newcastle's recruitment operation.
