NEWSFEED: Newcastle United Youngster Matheos Ferreira Called Up by Brazil
Newcastle United's promising young attacker Matheos Ferreira has received a major boost to his career after being selected for Brazil's Under-20 international squad.
The 18-year-old has been named among 27 players for two friendly matches against Peru on 13 and 16 November, both taking place in Belém, Brazil.
Born in Ashington and raised in Berwick-upon-Tweed, Ferreira qualifies to represent Brazil through his father.
He is also eligible for England and Italy and has previously represented England at youth level.
Ferreira joined Newcastle's academy in 2020 and signed his first professional contract in August 2025.
Comfortable playing on either wing or in a central attacking role, he has continued his development with Newcastle's Under-21 side, scoring twice in his opening ten competitive appearances this season.
His international recognition is another encouraging sign for Newcastle's academy, particularly at a time when supporters are keen to see more young talent progressing towards the first team.
Brazil's November fixtures will provide Ferreira with an opportunity to demonstrate his ability on the international stage.
