Rejection After Rejection As Deja Vu Kicks In Again

YCMIU... but of course, it's happened again.

After last summer's parade of rejections, as our top targets snubbed the Toon ,the bandwagon has rolled on again as first Victor Munoz and now Johan Manzambi have waved goodbye to Newcastle after reportedly agreeing deals.

Body blows to the club, fans... and players

The emotions stirred by these rejections are like teenager you has a crush on a girl only for her to waltz off with one of his mates... as did the next crush, and the next one.

Just as that poor kid thought he was getting the eye in stepped a smooth talking lothario who had a bigger wallet and bigger you know what. And the lasses melted.

Actually, I always got the girl, but I can well imagine how the loser felt :)

Seriously though; news that Manxambi is Villa bound after Munoz did an about turn when Liverpool came calling is the body blow that is breaking the Toon's back.

I know Villa can offer Manzambi CL football but still.. losing out to the so called top 6 is bad enough... but Villa?

Where does that put us in the pecking order now?

In with the likes Brentford, Bournemouth and Fulham?

The dream is turning into a nightmare

It;s hard to believe how dramatically and swiftly our dreams have been crushed.

At the end of the 24/25 season we were Carabou Cup winners and in the CL with a team packed with top players; Isak, Tonali, Gordon, Bruno, Trippier, Schar, Burn, Tino, Hall and Pope.

In that summers transfer window expectations were high that we'd sign the players that would not only confirm our arrival as a top 6 team but take us to that holy grail 'next level'.

It didn't happen. Those next level players rejected us and strengthened our rivals.

And now it's got worse.

Isak, Gordon and Tonali have all departed and no fan would be surprised if our inspirational captain Bruno joined the exodus.

Age caught up with Trippier and it's catching up with Schar, Burn and Pope.

But for Tino's injury he might well have been off,and rumours have swirled around Lewis Hall.

Added to all of that... our top targets are rejecting us again.

Never mind Monday morning blues... this is turning inky black with bells on.

And, if us fans feel like the SJP walls are falling in... what message does it send to Bruno and the rest of the squad and any new players that we target?

In the space of 12 short months NUFC have gone from one of the most exciting, vibrant, 'come and join us' projects to what seems like a sinking ship with everyone jumping overboard.

Who is to blame?

You can bet your last US World Cup dollar that the blame game will be in overdrive.

Players don't want to play for Howe.

Too slow to get signings over the line.

Broadcasting our tragets to the football world.

Plus, owt else that peed off fans can think of to vent their fury.

What next?

Let's face it, of the three signings only one will likely line up when the season kicks off - Toure. Young Steur and Jouen have been bought for the future not the present.

That means there is a helluva lot of transfer work and lines to be crossed to get first team starters in for pre-season. And I bet Howe and Wilson know it.

When the going gets tough - and it doesn't get much tougher than where the club is now - the tough need to get going big style.

This was always going to be a pivotal transfer window...

But it is now in danger of pivoting 360 degrees in the wrong direction.

The club, players and fans desperately need an injection of transfer success to get Toon hearts beating stronger and pumping much need inspiration and excitement coursing back through our veins.

And, if that injection doesn't come soon the suffering will only get worse.
