Yoane Wissa: From Toon Scapegoat to England’s World Cup Nightmare

Football has a strange way of making a mockery of opinions on players .
One minute they are lauded as world beaters only to crash and burn after a few poor performances or, on the other hand, pilloried as an expensive flop only to kick sand in their critics faces by proving their light still shines bright.
Step forward Yoane Wissa.
Congo's Top Goalscorer & Star Man
Yoane followed up his brilliant opening game headed goal - who would have thought he was capable of that leap - with another two goals in last nights game that took DR Congo through to play England in the next round.
His first was a well executed penalty and his second an absolute pearler from just outside the box as he bent a whipped ishot around defenders and the keeper into thebottom corner of the net.
It was a goal Messi would have been proud of and one of the best of the WC so far.
And, it wasn't just his goals last night, he was a threat throughout the game and looked like the player us Toon fans thought we were buying.
England's Shaky Defence Awaits Yoane
As expected England beat Panama to win the group but it was another very iffy performance following on from the turgid display against Ghana.
Panama had chances against an England team that still looks pedestrian and disjointed, especially in defence. And it;s no surprise the defence looks shaky.
Tuchel's choice of full backs is now being questioned by all pundits and fans; he chose a barely match fit Tino and Reece James at RB with Tino now back home injured and James crocked again. CB Quansah had to turn out last night in their place.
At LB neither O'Reilly or Spence have looked solid giving more fuel to the fire on why Tuchel chose both ahead of one of the PL's outstanding performers of the season- our very own star left back Lewis Hall. Our man Big Dan might yet get the nod at LB.
Tuchel started Konsa and Stones at CB in the opening match against Croatia but conceding two poorly defended goals has led to Stones making way for Marc Guehi in the last two games. It hasn't made much of a difference, if any.
Whoever Tuchel selects in defence for the Congo game won't frighten Wissa.
He's, played in the Prem against them all and with his confidence and bounce back at full throttle you can bet he'll be wanting to show those who have written him off... that instead he can write off England's chances of going further in the competition.
A good result for us Toon fans would be England winning 3-2 with Wissa notching both.
That would see England progressing and Yoane returning to pre-season at SJP on a high giving Eddie hope that he can continue firing in the PL this coming season.
Even if he doesn't score against England Wissa has sent a message out to Toon fans...
Don't write me off yet. Rumours of my death are exaggerated.
What do you think?
Last Post: Evolution or Revolution?
There's far too much noise around Bruno for nothing to be going on. I'm starting to fear he wants out.
2 weeks today and the club returns to training. The manager stated he was confident that business would be done early because people were in place and background work all done.
So if we don’t have players in before training starts ( 2 weeks to go so deals could still be done in time) who is to blame this time

Can you wait until the 96th minute for his winner or would you prefer it was game over by half time with Liverpool reduced to nine men and we go on to win 5 -0.
