Ivan Toney Linked With Newcastle Return & Jaissle Reunion
Former Newcastle United striker Ivan Toney is being linked with a sensational return to St James' Park, with reports from Saudi Arabia suggesting Matthias Jaissle is interested in reuniting with the England international.
Toney, now 30, plays for Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli, where he previously worked under Jaissle before the German coach took charge of Newcastle this summer.
According to reports attributed to Saudi journalist Khalid Al-Shenaif, Jaissle is keen to bring Toney back to the Premier League, potentially during the January transfer window.
The striker has enjoyed an impressive spell in Saudi Arabia, establishing himself as a prolific goalscorer after joining from Brentford in 2024.
However, the speculation needs treating cautiously. Newcastle sources have reportedly played down suggestions that Toney is currently a transfer target, and there is no indication of negotiations or an agreement between the clubs.
Toney made only a handful of senior appearances during his first spell at Newcastle before building his reputation elsewhere.
A return would therefore represent an intriguing second opportunity at St James' Park, particularly given his established relationship with Jaissle.
For now, though, this remains a developing transfer rumour rather than a confirmed Newcastle pursuit.
